Regular Season Standings Determining Playoff Positions and Final Four Tournament Tiebreaker Rules

For determining who will play who, the following tiebreaker rules will apply as per Ringette Canada.

  1. When two (2) or more teams have an equal number of points after the completion of any round, the highest of the tied teams will be determined in the following order and considering the "Official Score" of the games, played in that round.
  2. These shall be followed in sequence until the tie is broken (i.e. one team is eliminated from the tie). Once on (1) team is eliminated from the tie, the procedure reverts back to (v.1).
  • This procedure, in most cases, will declare the team in the HIGHEST position. However, in some cases, the procedure will declare the LOWEST position between tied teams, and that team shall be dropped from the tie breaking procedure (e.g. the top two teams remain tied). In these cases, the procedure shall also revert back to (v.1) in order to break the tie between those teams that remain tied.
  1. In all games the maximum difference (spread) between goals for and against in each game is seven (7) goals. This is the "Official Score".
  2. The following procedure will be followed:
  3. The team with the most games won amongst the tied teams during the round robin will be ranked highest.
  4. If still tied, the team having the greatest positive difference between goals for and against in games between the tied teams in the round robin will be ranked highest.
  5. If still tied, the team having the least total goals against in games between the tied teams during the round robin will be ranked highest.
  6. If still tied, the team having the greatest positive difference between goals for and against in all games during the round robin will be ranked highest.
  7. If still tied, the tied team with the least total goals against in all games during the round robin will be ranked highest.
  8. If still tied, the team having the fewest penalty minutes in games between tied teams will be declared the highest position.
  9. If still tied, the team having the fewest penalty minutes in all round robin games will be declared the highest position.
  10. If still tied, a coin toss will be used to break the tie.

Tie Games | Shoot Outs | Overtime Periods

In the playoff format, tie games in the Elimination game, Quarter Finals and Semi Finals will be determined by a shootout.  The home team will have pick of which order they wish to start the shootout by shooting first or shooting last.

Each team will have 5 skaters shoot that MUST be PRE-DETERMINED on the game sheet before each game ranked 1 through 5.

If no goals have been scored - then teams will enter sudden death going through their roster one by one where everyone must shoot before a player on the same roster can take a second attempt.  Players will need to be labeled in order from 6 through the end of their roster when sudden death occurs.  If a player shoots twice before everyone has shot once, the win will be given to the opposing team.  If you’ve gone through your roster without scoring a goal, the pre-determined players will follow the same order. Shootout rules apply to all divisions playing any best of three series or elimination game.
